One of the biggest challenges facing IT managers today is represented by the exponentially increasing demands on storage capacity and its availability, coupled with stagnating or even shrinking IT budgets.

The market research company Vanson Bourne studied the phenomenon of the ever-growing mountain of data and related problems in 14 European countries.

This study has revealed that resources worth 784 billion euros will be wasted in the EMEA economic area by 2020 if companies do not take active measures and implement corresponding measures to optimize their data storage and information management.

Data explosion – A phenomenon of inactive, obsolete data!


The reasons for this uncontrolled flood of data are just as diverse as their origin and use. Companies hope to gain valuable information from these big data volumes and consequently obtain a competitive advantage over their competitors. In most cases, however, a closer look shows clearly that the incurred storage infrastructure costs are many times higher than the competitive advantage of additional added value that can be obtained from such big data and information.

If you consider the results of the Databerg Report more closely, it becomes clear that a fraction of the information potential is used on one hand, and on the other hand, all data are usually stored on a unified storage infrastructure regardless of their information content.

The Active Archive Controller is very easy to integrate via CIFS or NFS into an existing storage infrastructure. Corresponding integration in AAC is of course included for almost all document management systems.

AAC is also able to archive data in a revision-proof form. This revision-proof archiving has been tested by appropriate agencies and certified as revision-safe archiving.
